What is engraving?
A design is cut into a steel plate and the ink is pressed into the sheet — crisp, three-dimensional detail on the face, with the subtle bruise on the back that marks real engraving.
Read the full technique →Engraved letterhead is the standard for correspondence that has to carry weight. The design is incised into a metal plate and pressed up from the sheet under tons of pressure, leaving crisp, raised type with a faint impression on the back — the hallmark of fine stationery. The choice of law firms, financial advisors, and executives since Wells & Drew began engraving in 1855. Printed and hand-inspected in our Jacksonville, Florida workshop.
