The Capital Region Bankruptcy Bar Association and Central New York Bankruptcy Bar Association gave the prestigious Nicholas S. Priore Advocacy and Professionalism Award to Attorney Michael J. Balanoff of Green & Seifter, Attorneys, PLLC. He is recognized in the legal profession as a man with an exemplary character who gives credibility to the profession. His skills of advocacy are distinguished by his peers. The United States District Court, Northern District of New York, also recognized Balanoff’s astounding professionalism and pro bono work that is more than excellent, and thus awarded him the Pro Bono Service Award as well.
Attorney Michael J. Balanoff practices primarily in areas of bankruptcy, business acquisitions, debtor and creditor rights, telecommunications and real estate. He had an extensive 40 years of experience in cases involving commercial transactions, workouts, and debtor and creditor rights.
He is among the Panel of Mediators for the Northern District of New York’s District Court. He is also a past president and a founding member of the Central New York Bar Association. He graduated from Boston College Law School and served in the United States Army in Vietnam, where he got the Bronze Star for Service award.
The Nicholas S. Priore award is named after Nick Priore, Esq. who exemplified what it means to be a lawyer. He was a former partner at Getnick, Livingston, Atkinson, Gigliotti and Priore. He died in December 2007 at 46 years of age but left a legacy. The recipient of the award must possess similar qualities to that of Nicholas Priore.
