Houston Press Named Personal Injury Lawyer Rob Ammons as 2010’s Best Civil Attorney

10/2/2010

Rob Ammons, personal injury lawyer of the Ammons Law Firm, was named as the Best Civil Attorney for 2010 by the Houston Press. Each year, the Houston Press publishes the “Best Of Houston” issue which highlights top professionals, restaurants, and many others falling in various categories such as arts and entertainment, food and drinks, la vida, shopping and services, and sports and recreation.

Ammons was recognized for bringing a whopping 82.5 million dollar verdict for the family of Joshua Wade Petrie, the man who was killed at a natural gas processing plant in Cleburne, Texas in 2007.

Petrie figured in an accident involving the explosion of a hot oil heater at the said plant. He was trying to start the oil heater when it exploded. He died a day later and was survived by his 3 minor children, and his spouse, Candee Petrie.

Houston press writers said that the verdict that Ammons obtained for the Petrie family is a proof that “large corporations can still be held responsible for misdeeds, no matter how handcuffed plaintiffs’ attorneys have become via tort reform.”

Ammons believed that “when companies prioritize profits over responsibility, safety and respect for the environment, juries are going to push back in the only way they can- by awarding precedent setting verdicts for hard working claimants.”
